The salt is slowly heated on the ceramic plate to a temperature of 200 °C (400 °F). Now, the surface is ready to cook food on it. This method of cooking offers a unique subtle flavour. After the cooking is done, the Salt Block can be used as a serving tray. The bamboo tray is a heat protectant.
